What does the house offer?
 
The house was finished in spring 1998 and was continually improved. It is positioned between the national highway Dumaguete-Bacong and the beach. It is far away from that road, so no noise. The size of the property is 3600 qm and there are two other houses located about 40 m away from our vacation house. Rosemarie's mother and occasionally some family members live in one of them. The other one can also be rented. The distance to other neighbouring houses is large enough to avoid serious disturbances. There are  some big tropical trees growing on the property as well as banana trees and a meadow for games and relaxation.
The house measure about 9 meters by 11 meters. To keep it cool at noon we decided to have a nipa roof installed which serves very well this purpose together with the massive concrete walls. Nipa are leaves of special palm trees and very durable. The rooms are devides into kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room. Please see attached a simple drawing.
Kitchen: Sink, some cabinets, gas stove, refrigerator, 6 stools and tables, kitchen utensils like mixer, coffee machine, electrical stove etc
Bathroom: Floor and walls all covered with tiles, washing basin, shower, water toilet to sit on (western style) plus a cabinet for towels and other things.
Bedroom: Adjustable bed for two adults and at least two kids, a very large cabinet and a ceiling fan.
Living room: 2 Rattan sofa and chairs, table, 2 big cabinets, one for the TV. The TV has got a cable connection which offers the reception of appr. 60 international channels. In case you want to use the cable, we have to pass on to you the fee of 400 Pesos / 10 US $ per month.
The interior is nothing luxurious but enough for daily needs and a pleasant stay. If you need more funiture or other items you can simply get more from mother Jovencia. She speaks English and can help you with all your problems.
Water supply comes from a water tank which is installed on the property. An electrical pump fetches the water from a well more than 10 meters deep. Water is clean and we never had any hassle with it. Also power supply has become very stable in Negros during the last few years. In case of medical emergencies there is a telephone to call immediate help. There are several good hospitals in town.
There is also the possibility to rent the family car to reach all the interesting spots of the island. But public transport is also no problem. You will get to Dumaguete within 15 minutes by pedicabs or so called Easy Rides. We can also recommend to visit the islands Siquijor und  Apo Island in the vicinity.
