Travelling to Philippines is a very long destination but with
our present modern airplanes it is not that far you might think and reachable
within approximately 12 hours from Europe or America. All long distance flights will
usually arrive at the CapitalCityManila or at Cebu. There are two ways to travel to DumagueteCity, the capital city of Negros
Oriental Province (located in the middle part of the Archipelago) which is either by
plane or by a fast boat. But first you should enjoy for a fews days the life of a big
City though Dumaguete has also quite a bit to offer. If you wish to travel by fast boat, first fly from Manila directly to CebuCity, the oldest City of the country. From
there you continue your journey with the comfortable fast boat for
approximately 2 hours. See also a map of the
Philippines.
Our
vacation house is located at the southern part of the City. It
is the very next barangay(village) to the City limit Banilad. One
could take public transportation going to the next town Bacong . This street is called Dumaguete South Road which will lead us to the southern
part of the Island(see also the map of Dumaguete) along beautiful sandy beaches and
other interesting spots to visit. So leaving DumagueteCity at first you will leave behhind a
small road to the left going to Santa Monica beach resort, then the sign of the
City Limit and after another 2 Kilometer you have to turn left into a small
road. It is not very easy to find this junction (on the other side there is a
large wall) but there is a large Cola advertisement at a right bend 200 meters
further on. The local people call this area Sacsac and the small road ends at
the beach resort of congressman Macias. After leaving the national highway turn
again left after appr. 120 m and follow this path for 50 m - you've reached the
house! But pictures can probably a better story, so
have a look at this page. Since it is a bit difficult to find it at the first time you should contact
Rosemarie's family first who can pick you up - absolutely no problem.
